A double unit at the Brown Building that has been fully remodeled. This is probably the nicest remodel I’ve see in the building.
Comedor
On the corner of Fifth and Colorado in downtown Austin behind a matte black and reflective brick facade is Comedor, an upscale modern Mexican restaurant helmed by chef Philip Speer (previously of Uchi). The restaurant was designed by world renowned architect Tom Kundig and is one of Austin’s most beautiful and architecturally significant restaurants.
Sammie’s
Im a sucker for a red sauce joint. After living years in New York and Chicago, going out for Italian was almost a weekly tradition. Austin has some great Italian restaurants but when MMLH (MqGuire Moorman Lambert Hospitality) opened up Sammies in the old Huts Hamburger space on W 6th St this past spring all my checkered table cloth, Chianti drinking dreams were answered.
