Launderette

Situated deep in the Holly neighborhood on Austins east side in a converted laundromat is Launderette. Chef and owner Rene Ortiz opened Launderette in 2015 after working at Austin favorites, Sway and La Condesa. The menu is extremely approachable with an even mix of Mediterranean dishes ( Whole Branzino, Charred Octopus), Pan-European (Bistro Steak, PEI Mussels) and all day American cafe (Plancha Burger) offerings. The desserts here are a must here and frequently on Austins best of lists with the Birthday Cake Ice Cream Sandwich being the crowd favorite and a menu item that often comes up in conversation when mentioning Launderette. The staff are some of my favorite in the city: knowledgable, laid back, warm and attentive. For a restaurant thats been open for the better half of a decade on Austin’s competitive east side where restaurants are prone to sparkle and fade, Launderette remains a consistently busy and delicious staple in the city.
