Dai Due
Dai Due is a little all day restaurant and butcher shop located in the corner of a strip mall in the Cherrywood neighborhood where chef/owner Jesse Griffiths showcases his love of Texas game meats and other local seasonal fare. Immediately upon entering you are greeted with a display case of house made charcuterie and provisions that seem like they came straight from a Texas hunting camp (think antelope breakfast sausage, wild boar chorizo, wagyu beef bologna). Behind the butcher shop is the dining area sporting heavy wooden tables and cozy tufted leather booths all focusing on the open kitchen with a wood burning hearth framed by dried hanging herbs and jars of preserved vegetables from seasons past. The menu is very meat-centric and relies heavily on game meats like boar and antelope as well as Texas beef and its what Dai Due does best. Everything served in the restaurant is hyper seasonal and local and shines a spotlight on Texas farmers and ranchers. That means you won’t find things like Texas citrus on the menu in the Summer and any item on the menu that isn’t in season has been fermented, canned, pickled, or smoked so it can be enjoyed year round. Even the olive oil, wine and beer, and the grain and corn used in the baked goods is from from Texas. The farm to table way of dining has been around for a while now but there are few places that do it with as much earnestness and care as Dai Due.
