Bufalina Due
Located in a small strip mall on Burnet Road is Bufalina Due. As its name suggests its the second iteration of Bufalina. The now shuttered first restaurant opened its doors in 2013 on Ceaser Chavez. Since the opening of its original outpost, owner Steven Dilley and his team have been firing some the best Neapolitan pizza in Austin and have kept one of the cities best wine lists too. Walking into Bufalina Due’s bunker-esque space its impossible not to notice how much wine they actually have. It lines the walls and is piled into boxes next to the front door. It’s truly impressive and the bottles on wall alone rival some of Austins best bottle shops. The focal point of this smaller cozy space is the Stafano Ferrara wood burning oven. The pizza that comes out is perfectly spotted with char, with a light chewy crust. They offer plenty of different pies, but my go to is the Calabrese which is a tomato based pie topped with mozzarella, basil, salami, serrano peppers, garlic and topped with Parmesan. They have some great starters which change seasonally (get the burrata) and usually offer some outstanding pastas. If you are craving pizza and wine, which is often in my case, its hard to think of a better place than Bufalina Due.
