Better Half

Better Half is an all day cafe and restaurant from the team behind some of my favorite restaurants and bars in Austin (Brew&Brew, Little Brother, Hold Out Brewing). Better Half opened in 2019 in the Clarksville neighborhood and has been a hub for casual work meetings in the morning with their bar full of opened laptops and patrons enjoying their excellent chicken biscuits and coffee and in the early evening a packed patio of people going in on one of Austins best happy hours. Its the kind of place I’m drawn to and suggest when Im feeling indecisive about what to eat or if I need to take a quick work meeting. The menu is full of classic American fare and its varied enough to appeal to everyone. They have a one of my favorite burgers in the city and their big seasonal salads are a must order if you’re looking for some roughage. Better Half is housed in a beautiful mid century style building that looks unassuming from the front but reveals its good design when you walk in. When the weather gets too hot to sit out on their expansive patio, their cozy booths or friendly bar are great indoor options to enjoy this classic neighborhood spot.
